Beautifully fun Isaac-like with tight controls and really fun gameplay where you actually FEEL the progression as you climb the tower.

If this were finished and available on Steam, I would gladly pay for this.

Epic work, Paulfromsmite.

paulfromsmite responds:

Thanks for the review!

I'm a little confused by almost everything in the Author comments.

Breathtaking soundtrack? Amazing Backgrounds?

This is literally noughts and crosses against a simple AI.

I think before asking people to pay for a "full version" of this (How much more can you add to noughts and crosses?), maybe give the player a bit of a taster of the alluring backgrounds and soundtrack you're talking about.

Not sure if troll?

Ciullo-Corporation responds:

No trolls here, just chyrkyans...

Full version loads fast, works offline, has multiplayer, 7 arenas and 14 original tracks... and you already got a demo, nowadays they ask you to pay much more without even a screenshot.

Awesome game, clear instructions, awesome minigames, realistic achievements. Brilliant.

One thing though.. The credits don't appear to contain the name of the song playing during the CAST screen at the end.. Anyone got any ideas? Developer dude? Halp!

Wiesi responds:

Oh thats "Keep Me Hanging On 16bit", you can find that song in the NG Audio Portal! I think I just forgot to put it into the credits.. Here's the URL: http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/497166

I'm giving the game 5 because I've loved it up to now, but my save has disappeared, after I'd bought 4ks worth of coins, spent them on the game, and now I'm level 1 again.. I'll be contacting Berzerk Studio directly, as I've heard they're really good with problems such as this. I have the badge for reaching level 10, but I think I was about 13-15.

The game itself is great fun, and now the player's hitbox is smaller, it's more about skill, other than just having to tank all the bullets that you can't avoid, relying on HP upgrades.

BerzerkStudio responds:

Hey man,

please send us a mail with your account and stuff at info [at] berzerkstudio.com, we'll fix this.

Sorry for the save lost, don't know what the hell happen but we know it's frustrating :(. Contact us and we'll find a solution.

Thanks for playing!

WHY DID I PLAY THIS FOR SO LONG....?

I played so long that Gaben fell through the Gaben floor, and the Gaben music got slower and slower until it sounded like Gaben was on nitrous oxide.

Still didn't manage to increase the "papers" counter, but I'm going to get there eventually..

Wait, what?

There are no papers to collect?

I DON'T CARE.

BECAUSE GABEN.

Dylpex responds:

Gaben is love, Gaben is life

This game just completely took over my life for an hour and a half. I haven't had this much fun with an upgrade-a-thon/arena-shooter in a very, VERY long time. I loved the upgrade system, I loved the weapons, although some were pretty useless, like the tazer and saw, but I'm more a mid-range kind of guy. ^^

The gameplay didn't get stale, as you always know that there will be a big boss-fight soon, and the random effect dice was an amazing way to break up the gameplay, whether it was something useful, like the "Duckie gun" (LOL), the Kill-everything-by-pointing-at-it-lazer gun, the drag and dropper, the "Smashy hand" thingy, the mine layer or the fart powder, or something that temporarily ramped up the challenge for a bit, like the one that makes the player invisible, the one that seemed to make the controls *slippery*, meaning you had to compensate for any change of direction you needed to make, or the hilarious "Enemies are now humungous" effect.

As a whole, very, VERY enjoyable game that had me hooked from start to finish.

If I had to give one critique, It would have to be -

Please, make more levels, make more weapons, make more effects on the randomizer dice, and in general, I suppose, just keep building upon it, not that there wasn't already enough of all of those things, but I'd honestly like to see this as a bigger project. If you worked on this, made the game last longer, and kept the hilarious story going for a bit longer, I'd happily pay for this if it was on Steam.

Maybe consider trying to get it greenlit? I'd donate towards the $100 fee that goes in to getting the game in to the greenlight system, and I'm pretty sure many others that enjoyed this game would too.

I know you consider this game finished now, but I'd truly like to see it expanded upon.

Whatever you choose to do, be safe in the knowledge that the game you made absolutely made someone's day. Good luck with future projects, and should you choose to expand upon this game, please let us know!

I write music, by the way, and if you like the demos I have on the audio hub, I'd gladly make some music for you, free of charge.

Thanks for making my day so much more fun. ^^

UmutDervis responds:

Hey there, I seriously needed to take some breaths before writing a reply to such an amazing comment. Thank you very much for your kind words and your appreciation, believe me I am more than happy now!

I want to be able to make a game that would have enough depth to sell on Steam, I don't know if it would be something similar to this or not, but when I receive feedback such as yours, it definitely reminds me why I do this and gives me the strength to continue. I hope one day I'd be able to make that game and let you know :) Thanks!

By the way, your music is rad, so if the right project comes along, why not? Also subscribed to your youtube channel, loved those let's plays!

Thank you again!

4.5 stars, just because I've enjoyed it so much thus far, but one thing bothers me, and I see it's bothering others as well..

The fact taht you must put in EXACTLY what the title of the game is, and granted, that shouldn't be an issue, but when you include the two !'s in Punch Out, I think it's a little too harsh. Also, I can't seem to get the Monkey Island one to register at all.

Keep up toe awesome work, Kleber! I love the game, and will be sending it to all of my fellow 20 and 30 something gamer friends. I'm sure this will shake free a few cobwebs, and bring back some love for all things retro.

Man... Starcraft and Portal are considered Retro now... Y U MAKE ME FEEL SO OLD

kleber responds:

Thank you very much JBeat2k9!
I'm very glad you like the game :)
I just uploaded a new version that you can choose if you want to write the entire game name or just the main title.
Maybe now it'll get a 5 hahaha
Thanks for playing!

That was the most fun I've had playing a flash game in a very, VERY long time. The graphics were as retro, cute and clear as they needed to be, the levels were challenging without being pretentious (The final level.

Oh dear lord do you need to have climbed up that difficulty curve to clear THAT one!

Good luck! It's totally worth it, not for the ending, but for having beaten it legitimately, and having had fun the whole time.

Thank you, Mr. TheSpyDog. You are all shades of awesome. Never stop making games, and the whole world will continue to benefit from your awesome level design, themes, and addicting gameplay.

4.5 Stars. I knocked off .5 because (SPOILER)! STOP READING HERE IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU COMPLETE IT!

The end is so sombre. Silence over credits. It would have been great to actually HAVE an ending, but to be honest, you know what they say. In game design, it's the journey there, not the arrival.
________________________________(SPOI LER ENDS HERE)

I will definitely be looking at the other games you have made!

TheSpydog responds:

Thanks so much! :D I'm really glad you enjoyed it so much. And thanks for that encouragement! I plan on making games for as long as I can. :)

---SPOILER--
Yeah, I agree. I wish the ending could have been better. Even just a music loop would have been great. However - and this might sound kind of bad - by the time I made the ending, I was really just wanting to get the game finished as soon as possible. I didn't have any extra music tracks to use for it, and so I just kept it quiet. My apologies for disappointing you with that.

Amazing. Simple, and amazing.

One of the most original games I've played in a very long time. I hope you make a sequel to this. Not sure how you'll go about topping this, but good luck trying! ^_^ Can't wait to see more from you. The music was great, the sound was great, the narration was great (except for how you pronounced "Elevator". xD You said EleWaitor.) Hehe. The graphics were simplistic, but they were perfect for what you were going with. Great work.

whileworking responds:

i is happy you dig this, T too :) - Good you mentioned it: it's "eleWaitor" because you have to wait, hehe believe it or not ;)

Brilliant.

Absolutely awesome game with simple graphics, but great gameplay and replay value. Very rarely wil you have the same effect twice when blowing up an atom. The results CAN be thought out in your head first, to an extent, but a lot of the time, you will need to rely on luck.

Basically, this game is the typical Chain Reaction game, where you have to blow up one blob, causing it's pieces to fly off and detonate any other blobs it touches, and at some points in the game, the blobs are colour-coordinated, and only chain-destroy blobs of the same colour.

Very well thought out game, very well presented, and awesomely pulled off. I give this game a 10, solely because I'd definately come back to play it again. It's even made my bookmark folder. ;)

Note to Finefin: Mate, you have an awesome skill for making addictive flash games. Never, EVER give that up. You should think of collaborating with another artist, maybe, and come up with the best game ever? Anyway man, great job, and keep at it! I can see that you've got a real artistic touch there, and you should let it run free more. Let's see more like this please. ^^

finefin responds:

thank you very much.
actually there are a couple of games in the pipeline, so stay tuned !
